Bearded Man of the Week: Chris Trew

We're going to miss the Air Sex World Championships when they pass through Kansas City later this month, but that doesn't mean we can't give its host a little love here on Scanner.

Air sex is like air guitar, except instead of a non-existent guitar, air sexers play with a non-existent partner. And it just so happens that the genius behind the Air Sex World Championships is a bearded man.

Chris Trew, Austin improviser and apparent air-sex aficionado, recently talked to The Decider about the air sex craze that's sweeping the nation (or molesting it?) and how to do it, and do it and do it well.

Decider: Are there any songs you should avoid?

CT: First and foremost, “Let’s Get It On.” Also Salt-N-Pepa’s “Let’s Talk About Sex.” Anything that’s too obviously “sexy”—or was at one point in time, anyway. Someone did the Full House theme song at the last competition, and while the routine had nothing to do with Full House, and it’s an “inappropriate” song to be air fucking to, everyone responded to it. Obscure things that don’t fit within the framework of “sex” are perfect.
