Natalie Portman On Nude Scenes In Her Movies

    natalie_portman

Long story short: she has some issues with them. We already linked to this interview, but I'd like to go a bit deeper with our analysis. While she has no problems with nude scenes in and of themselves, her hesitance comes from the fact that certain sites on the internet will take even the briefest flashes of skin and, BAM, instant porn! Which is completely understandable. And having grown up in film makes it even more strange, she said to V Magazine:

I was figuring out my own sexual identity, likes and dislikes and all that stuff, and it's weird to be doing stuff on film as you're figuring it out. Also being a sexual object when you're a kid is really uncomfortable. After The Professional, I was already getting creepy letters.

I agree with you, Natalie. That sounds really uncomfortable, and also super not okay for those people to make a young girl into a sexual object. Even sending a young girl creepy letters is already beyond the pale, and luckily it seems like it never got any more personal than that. I don't even want to imagine how awful that would be.

Hey! You know what's interesting, readers? This:

Natalie Portman's age when The Professional came out: thirteen.

Roman Polanski's victim's age when he drugged and raped her: thirteen.

Number of petitions Natalie Portman has signed asking that Polanski be freed: ONE TOO MANY. (So, one.)

    Touche!

I feel like I would be more interested in Natalie Portman's opinions if she didn't always sound like she was talking down to me.

Have to agree with you on this one, Eric. She has that disgusted look on her face every time I see her... for example:

It's the Sasha Grey syndrome. Hot famous chick with some smarts and liberal leanings who get annoyed that men find them attractive and therefore have a permanent puss on their face.

I can think of a few conservative women that fit the same description.

^ Yeah, but you'd expect it from them
