Image Of The Day: Clever, Slightly Terrifying Lube Ads

These ads, for Manix brand lube, (which I can't say I've ever heard of) are popping up all over the webs again today, although they're a few years old. I can't decide if I should be impressed by their clever subtlety or offended by the intensely painful things they suggest. Either way, for mainstream ads that have to hint at sex, they do a better job than some attempts in recent memory - like those KY "Mine + Yours" ads where instead of showing the couple have sex, they showed circus acts or geysers, which were pretty corny. At least these take a second. Or in the case of this one, several minutes:

I guess I get it now, but it's hardly jaw-dropping. The first one's way cleverer. The second one must've been written by the ad-firm equivalent of The B Squad.

Yes, that's the secret to the second one - the idea is that she doesn't want to sit down, even though there are so many empty seats.

None of these are nearly as shocking or memorable as the "butter as anal lube" advertisement that was on this very blog a couple of years ago (tried, but can't find a link).
