YouTube Celeb Winnebago Man Gets His Own Documentary

If you (like me) do not know the legend behind the Winnebago Man, here's a blurb from the film's site:

Jack Rebney is the most famous man you’ve never heard of — an RV salesman whose hilarious, foul-mouthed outbursts circulated underground on VHS tapes in the 90s before turning into a full-blown Internet phenomenon in 2005. Today, the “Winnebago Man” has been seen by more than 20 million people worldwide, and is regarded as one of the first and funniest viral videos. Filmmaker Ben Steinbauer goes in search of Rebney — and finds him living alone on a mountain top, unaware of his fame. WINNEBAGO MAN is a laugh-out-loud look at viral culture and an unexpectedly poignant tale of one man’s response to unintended celebrity.

I have a problem with these kinds of let's-unearth-some-hasbeen/neverbeen-and-make-a-probing-documentary-about-loneliness which is, from the description, how it sounds. Even the flippant "hilarious, foul-mouthed" description sounds more like a review for a Farrelly brothers movie than a documentary about a man LIVING ALONE ON MOUNTAIN TOP FOR YEARS. But after watching the trailer though the whole thing seems a little less exploitative, though it might just be the swelling, good-times guitar-strummin' ballad that tends to make everyone a sucker. Also, maybe if I don't like the idea of a group of people sticking big, shiny cameras in front of the face of someone who has nothing and asking them if they'd like to be the subject of a documentary, then maybe I shouldn't watch documentaries?

It's getting rave reviews all over the place and won a ton of festival trophies, so maybe I just need to see this thing.
