Devo made a pretty awesome appearance on Colbert last night. First they sat down and chatted with the faux-pundit about their concept album, Something For Everybody - the proud product of market research of focus group testing. (Grrrr, thirty-year-old band, you are pushing our consumerist buttons!) Then they talked all about how we're undergoing a "DEVOlution" what with the oil spill and our awful ways and whatnot. These guys are adorably transgressive for a band full of grandpa's. Is it just me or is Mark Mothersbaugh is looking a little like Michael Douglas these days? Or do I mean Kirk Douglas? Or do I mean KING TUT?

But wait. Forget all the really immature swipes at their age, which is a ridiculous reason to judge anyone anyway (at the top of that list, Devo), because their performance was fucking great. Mothersbaugh's voice doesn't sound an ounce different, which - as an awful and ageist person - I expected it would.
