The case for monogamy, from my cynical view (I would say, realistic): Both partners have a vested interest in limiting the other's sexual freedom. For a man, this is to avoid raising another man's son. For a woman, this is to avoid losing the support and protection of her man (yeah, this sound antiquated, but evolution seems to support this). So monogamy is a deal... "I won't fuck around if you won't fuck around." It also has the benefit of reducing STIs, etc.

If you look at it another way, monogamy works better for men and polygamy works better for women. In a polygyny society, the very best men can take as many wives as possible, so multiple women benefit from having a better chance at getting with the best of the best. But in a monogamous society, only one woman could get with the very best man and rest of the women are going to go to the rest of the guys. So monogamy works best for all guys in general because it almost guarantees that every guy will be able to get with someone instead of just the best guys getting all the women.

I have no mixed feelings about Orlando and Miranda. I'm just depressed that Orlando is officially off the market. *sigh*

The Vortex Bar & Grill, in Atlanta, has been serving a double cheeseburger with bacon and a fried egg on a bun made up of two grilled cheese sandwiches for several years now. They call it the "double bypass burger" or something.
