With the Broadway musical version of John Waters's Crybaby in the process of dying a dog's death, we thought it might be an interesting time to access the Wayback Machine that is the Internet and remember what Johnny Depp was like around the time that he was surviving his own association with the original 1990 movie. Frankly, he looks a lot sturdier than we remembered, but maybe that's 20/20 hindsight. Daring to dream of a life beyond 21 Jump Street (and keeping his fingers crossed about the fate of his next project, Edward Scissorhands), Depp is asked what he'd like to have in his career and immediately answers, "Longevity. I'd like to be around for awhile." Of course, there are other things in life. We're not sure what they are, but Richard Grieco could tell us.
