The Screengrab

Screengrab Wants YOU (to let us know what Top Tens you'd like to see in the Screengrab)!

Posted by Andrew Osborne

Over the past few months, we here at Screengrab have attempted to enrich your valuable internet time with snarky commentary, cogent analysis and embarrassingly earnest adulation of some of our favorite and least favorite films of all time via our weekly Thursday Top Ten lists.

Past categories have included The 10 Sexiest Guy and Girl Geeks In Cinema, The Top 15 Movie Bars, The Jailbait Sweet 16, The Top 10 Girl Power Films, The Gay Pride Top 20, The 12 Greatest Movies Based On TV Shows and our recent trilogy of lists about the good, the bad and the ugly of cinematic portrayals of America.

Now it's your turn: what Top Ten lists would you like to see, and what movies do you think should be on them? Let us know in the comment field of this post, and we'll do our best to feature your suggestions in future weeks!

How about the ten best films that are good despite their pretentiousness followed up by the ten worst films because of... Would cause alot debate. Or ten best movies by music video directors.

Top ten animal heroes in cinema; these mutts, pigs, fish, ants, etc. put their lives on the line in order ensure a happy ending, isn't it about time they got their due?

How about:

Ten films ruined by a horrible performance (anything with Robin Williams)

Worst settings in a movie (the post-apocalyptic Earth from Battlefield Earth seemed pretty half-assed, as did everything else about that movie)

Best continuous tracking shots in a movie. (Obviously inspired by your Kubrick ad link. This could also go "Best continuous tracking shots that aren't in a Kubrick movie" which would be the least sexy post title in Screengrab history. Still I think it would be an interesting post. Children of Men.

Best movies with little dialogue. This needs to be tweaked so Wall-E would fit in, but Kim Ki-Duk's 3-Iron would work as well.

Top ten Movies that were better than their book (Fight Club).

Top Ten movie titles that make for great porn titles.

Thanks

Have you done "greatest scenes from otherwise-terrible movies" yet?

Top ten ignominous exits.  Those final films of an actor that are less than glorious and not befitting to be the last we see of them on celluloid.  I will be forever disappointed that the last we saw of Raul Julia was his haggard appearance in Street Fighter.

^ You could add directors to that. Querell is not supposed to by Fassbinder's best...

Great Scripts ruined by bad direction?

Unfairly Maligned Films/Filmmakers? (I'm talking about movies that are bywords for terrible, Heaven's Gate, Ishtar, Manos , Ed Wood and Michael Bay. Not just something like Step Up 2 The Streets or McG that no one really cared about anyway)

Oh! I Have a good one! 10 most divisive films of all time! Moulin Rouge, Showgirls, Passion of the Christ and Magnolia come to mind instantly (and that's only of the past ten years), as does the entire oeuvre of Brian de Palma. Movies that one side thinks is genius and the other side thinks is absolutely terrible. You could even have an argument for and against by different contributers. I'd really like this one.

I'd like to see the corollary of Yiyer's first idea:  Top ten solid/great performances in crap movies.  The example I usually use is Donald Sutherland in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but there's some terrible Italian SciFi film with Claude Rains that would fit as well.
