The creepy, surreal, otherworldly animation of the Brothers Quay has somehow wormed its way out of the avant-garde and into the mainstream of late; they directed a puppet sequence in the 2002 biopic Frida and recently put out, of all things, a promo for the FOX Sports Network. But despite a fairly dedicated cult following which has ensured that most of their work has been collected on DVD, a few of their animations remain unreleased -- which is where YouTube comes in handy. There, one can find a handful of Quay rarities, including "Arm" and a few of the breathtaking "Stille Nacht" series, one of which, entitled "Dog Door", is featured above.
