After many years of trying, Columbia Pictures may finally be getting a second sequel to Ghostbusters in gear -- written by none other than Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, executive producers of The Office.
Should we be worried that these creators of subtle Office shenanigans might not be able to handle the oversize zaniness of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? Probably not. The pair also just wrote Year One, an epic historical comedy directed by Harold Ramis, the original cowriter and costar of, yes, Ghostbusters.and Ghostbusters II.
By the way, we wouldn't be surprised if Freaks and Geeks creator-turned-movie mogul Judd Apatow somehow got mixed up in all this, too. He produced Year One, and Akroyd recently stated that it would be great if he and protege Seth Rogen were involved in the Ghostbusters reboot.
So, heck, now that everybody in comedy could be participating in this thing, why not Jack Black, too? He stars in Year One -- and as the following clip from Be Kind, Rewind demonstrates, he's extremely familiar with the original flick.
