Our Crush On "BSG" Star Edward James Olmos

Posted by Lindy Parker

Confession: Our knowledge of Battlestar Galactica can be boiled down to a single encounter in Starbucks...

We're sitting there, drinking coffee, reading a non-sci-fi book, when suddenly a rather portly guy in a red raincoat approaches our table, and stands there in an awkward, but non-scary way with a sort of half-smile on his face...

Red Raincoat:  Um, excuse me?  Have you ever seen the show, Battlestar Galactica?

Us: No. But our friend is really into it.

Red Raincoat:  Oh, well have you seen the show, The Bionic Woman?

Us: No, sorry. (and we really are -- he seems so enthusiastic!)

Red Raincoat: Well, you look a lot like the girl from those shows, Katee Sackhoff.

Us: Oh. Cool.

Red Raincoat: Okay, have a nice day!

All this to say, when it comes to in depth BSG analysis, we defer to Remote Bryan, but we do have this to say on the subject:  We LOVE Edward James Olmos!  We feel like he could star in all our May-December romance fantasies featuring horseback riding, apple picking, rolls in the hay -- you know, the usual.  The voice alone totally does it for us.

Here's a little Olmos fix for the day in which we believe the interviewer fully shares our EJO crush...

Oh portly raincoat guy! What an excitement he had for you and for BSG and for life. Give that guy a raise. Whatever he does, just up his pay. Immediately

About Lindy Parker

Lindy Parker has worked as a ghostwriter, editor, dance instructor and a purveyor of dreams, one beer at a time. She now writes for hooksexup.com's TV blog, "The Remote Island." She loves Charles Dickens and Gabriel Garcia Marquez and also, straight-to-video releases with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's possible she reads more teen fiction than she should. She hails from Los Angeles, her hometown and soul mate, but she lives in Brooklyn, the fling she'll never forget.

Olivia Purnell left Ohio for sunny Los Angeles; then found that she couldn’t ignore New York City’s call, and brought herself to Brooklyn where she has worked with GenArt, BlackBook, the School of American Ballet, and finished an M.A. in Creative Writing from N.Y.U. She loves one-liners with sting and hates the stench of the subway in the summer. That said, she can’t get enough of either.
