Summer Glau Gets a "Big Bang"

Posted by Olivia Purnell

Not to worry, this is good news . . .

Summer, as you probably know, is one of our faves.  She’s just so perky, she’s always kicking somebody’s ass, and she just can’t say no to a science fiction role (no matter how terrible).  We like those qualities in a girl.  Those attributes also make Summer every awkward adolescent boy’s dream.

That’s why she’s perfect for The Big Bang Theory, CBS’s nerd show.  She’ll be guest appearing as herself on TBBT.  And, predictably the main characters will flip-out over her sci-fi goddessness.  We don’t normally watch this show, but we might just tune in to watch a couple of geeks give Lady Glau props.

I'm not a Firefly or Serenity apologist, but there's nothing in that link to suggest that Serenity was "terrible," so I'm not sure why it was linked that way. It's okay if you thought it was terrible, but it just seems to me that your link suggests that you are citing to some "authority" for that position. Is it just the plot description? 'Cause the reviews themselves weren't bad.

Point Taken.  I linked to Serenity to provide an example of a role that I found to be a bit terrible (inherently), not to provide evidence of its, uh, terribleness.  Which is presumptuous, since a lot of people really liked it.

Thanks for the heads up, Johnny.

Lindy Parker has worked as a ghostwriter, editor, dance instructor and a purveyor of dreams, one beer at a time. She loves Charles Dickens and Gabriel Garcia Marquez and also, straight-to-video releases with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's possible she reads more teen fiction than she should. She hails from Los Angeles, her hometown and soul mate, but she lives in Brooklyn, the fling she'll never forget.

Olivia Purnell left Ohio for sunny Los Angeles; then found that she couldn’t ignore New York City’s call, and brought herself to Brooklyn where she has worked with GenArt, BlackBook, the School of American Ballet, and finished an M.A. in Creative Writing from N.Y.U. She loves one-liners with sting and hates the stench of the subway in the summer. That said, she can’t get enough of either.

Nicole Ankowski has lived in Ohio, Oakland, and on the high plains of South Dakota, but is now proud to call Brooklyn home. She wrote for alternative weekly papers in the first two states, and tried to learn Lakota in the last. (The vowels can be tricky.) She just earned her MFA in Creative Writing and has been published in Beeswax literary journal. She is unable to resist good writing or bad TV.
