Last night's season finale may or may not have been a series finale - and if it is, where will we go for cute, quirky musical numbers?
If this was the end, it was a pretty strong finish - Bret and Jemaine get evicted, and stay with Doug and Mel. Then Doug and Mel split up over her obsession with the boys - and Mel gets custody of Bret, while Doug gets Jemaine.
Mel: You're a little young to be hearing all this.
Bret: I'm 32 years old.
Murray decides to put on a Flight Of The Conchords musical - which, predictably, is terrible. Although it does feature Dave as the Statue of Liberty saying "Welcome. Welcome. Forget about it." Not sure why exactly that was so funny, but it was. Like much of the Conchords. Big piece in the Huff Post calling the show "The Best Porn On TV", and basically reducing the show's appeal to Bret and Jemaine's cuteness and overwhelming sex appeal to women. We disagree; just because you can't explain why something is funny doesn't mean it isn't. FOTC jokes don't necessarily translate to print, but we invariably find ourselves chuckling against our better judgment.
We digress. The musical fails, spectacularly - and calls attention to the boys' illegal immigration status. Which means they wind up back in New Zealand, as shepherds. Is this the final Flight Of The Conchords scene ever?
