Whether its because more housewives have joined the workforce over the last 50 years or because of weak plot lines, the longest running daytime soap opera could see its demise after 70 years of production. Maybe they should've stretched plot lines to include demon possession?
TV Week said CBS' current deal for the Procter & Gamble-produced series is set to end in September after a run of more than 70 years on radio and television for the venerable series. The network is said to be considering dropping it due to low ratings.
The decision is expected to be made soon, so if the daytime drama does get the ax, writers will have a chance to tie up loose ends and CBS will have time to find replacement programming, possibly a game show or talk show, TV Week said. (upi.com)
