As fans of Andy Samberg -- and basically, as you're reading something called "a blog," we pretty much already know that you are -- you no doubt know that part of the magic of his success on Saturday Night Live is that he got his start doing really funny web videos with a bunch of his friends. They were known as The Lonely Island, on account of they apparently mostly hung out in their apartment, goofing off and making funny fake gangster raps, which long story short led to a few rejected pilots, a couple of awards show gigs, one of which was with Jimmy Fallon, and there you go: all of a sudden Andy gets hired as on-screen SNL talent while his cronies Akiva and Jorma wind up on the writing and digital short staffs. Web 2.0 success numero uno. From Zero to Hero, as Black Sabbath would say.
All of which is the reason why, on a week that Amy Poehler returned to the show that we totally thought she was done with and holy crap is that a longterm thing?!?!?!, what we are wondering a little more about is whether The Dudes will be turning up in more shorts like "Jizz In My Pants" -- which, we're sure you agree, is basically as catchy as it is funny, even if it's in a Eurotrashy way that's totally embarrassing. It's possible -- apparently "Jizz" is the first single from the Lonely Island band Incredibad, who've got a record coming out in February. Maybe the record company pitched in for the vid? Might explain Molly Sims, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and the generally amazing production value.
