The New York Post is saying that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have been confirmed as the halftime act for Super Bowl XLIII on February 1. To us, that seems like the perfect choice: They're all-American without being cheesy, and they still rock hard, despite being a little bit past their prime. (Just this year, the old hippies at Rolling Stone called them the "best live band.") And with this group of near-60somethings, there's pretty much no risk of a "wardrobe malfunction."
While the halftime show has always been kind of a dopey spectacle, Brooooce and the gang are sure to attract a huge, multigenerational audience to the already mega-popular game. The Doritos people must be drooling just to think about it.
