We know the Miley Cyrus/Vanity Fair sitch is old news. But it still baffles us. Why was everybody so up in arms about a little bit of back skin? And we’re still disappointed that Miley C. couldn’t gather enough Disney gumption to defend what was in our opinion a fairly benign and fairly gorgeous photograph. The brilliant Annie Leib, on the other hand, has not wavered in her defense of the shot. During yesterday’s Today Show in promotion of her latest book, Annie Leibovitz at Work, Annie said:
"I love the photograph. It's a beautiful photograph. To me it's actually innocent," she tells Matt Lauer. "She was ready to take that picture and her audience was not. Maybe she shouldn't have posed for Vanity Fair." (Nymag.com)
Right? Annie, listen, anytime you want to take pictures of us draped tastefully in gagillion thread-count Egyptian cotton, we’re down.
