James Franco enrolled in yet another university

Add a Ph.D. program to James Franco's never-ending pursuit of higher education: Franco has enrolled in University of Houston's Creative Writing program, scheduled to begin class in the fall of 2012. Let's take stock here: that makes three M.F.As, one B.A, an Oscar-hosting gig, that movie co-starring Winona Ryder that doesn't sound like Black Swan at all, and a mind that will not rest until it's the most enlightened and cultivated of them all.
At a certain point, we've got to ask — is more really more? I mean, he's wealthy, good-looking, accomplished, and, Oscars aside, respected. Shouldn't he just chill out a little bit? In any case, I'm sure he'll enjoy it. I hear there's great weed in Houston.

Isn't Houston one of the most well-funded, coveted programs in the country? Are we really supposed to believe that Franco is a better writer than the hundreds from whom he took that spot? Somebody ought to tell him that this lark he's on is depriving a legitimately hard-working, talented writer from receiving a tremendous education.

He was already in a PhD program in English at Yale. Plenty of idea-hungry people do double PhDs. He's brilliant, works hard, and reaps the rewards. You're jealous. Knock it off.
What makes the pursuit of an education a lark?
I'm sure that there's hundreds of very talented writers out there, and that he probably did unseat all of them. But, it's really not for those writers to decide, is it? It's for the University of Houston. Yeah, it was probably motivated in part by internal politics and the endless pursuit of big names on the alumni list, but that's part of the game. The other part of the game is actual skill and ability, which he has.
