Congressman Jack Kingston and a monkey

What's worse than a congressman who doesn't believe in evolution? A congressman who's willing to adamantly admit it on national TV. That's exactly what Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga) did on Friday's episode of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher

When asked about evolution Kingston said, "I believe I came from God, not from a monkey, so the answer is no." Later, he added, "I don't believe that a creature crawled out of the sea and became a human being one day."

For the record, I don't believe it happened in one day either. I was under the impression the rise of humankind was more like a gradual and complex biological process that occurred over thousands of years. Unfortunately, according to a recent Gallup poll only sixty percent of Americans err on the side of science and share my view.

Watch Kingston voice the ideology of the other forty percent below.

I am against evolution on TV as well. People should evolve in the privacy of their own homes.

p.s. Is it bad that I think a mere 60% is optimistic?

Graham Chapman: "I object to all this sex on the telly. I mean, I keep falling off!"

Just remember, for every idiotic Congressman and Senator, there is an entire constituency that got together and elected him!
