Watch: Leaked footage from new anti-Palin documentary
By Kelly BourdetJune 27th, 2011, 10:16 amComments (9)Controversial documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield is shopping around a scathing documentary on everybody's favorite fake Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. A one-minute clip from the film — containing interviews with Palin's former legislative director, John Bitney, and senate president, Lyda Green — was leaked to the press, and it seems her former staff, at the very least, doubt Governor Palin's sincere interest in Alaskan politics.
Broomfield achieved fame with gritty documentaries such as Kurt & Courtney and Tupac & Biggie. He notably doubted the particulars surrounding Kurt Cobain's suicide and insinuated foul play. (I'm hoping this film will be heavy on that whole "Trig is really Bristol's baby" conspiracy.)
For this film, he interviewed Palin's friends and parents, as well as some irritated ex-employees. While the leaked footage is nothing sensational, and I doubt the film will tell us anything we don't already know or suspect about the former governor, it should be an interesting foil to the pro-Palin film The Undefeated, set for world release June 29. Bonus: check out the poster for the The Undefeated. It's creepy.

If it's anything like Kurt and Courtney I expect quite a few voiceovers along the lines of "This is where we were going to insert footage of Palin but she wouldn't let us because she's a big meanie and I don't like her." Although I haven't seen Biggie and Tupac, I'm confident in saying Kurt and Courtney was a fucking joke.
ditto. that movie sucked. too bad a reputable film maker hasn't approached her since she is pretty damn fascinating.
You see misogyny in this one minute of footage? Maybe you can also recognize there exist grounds on which to criticize Sara Palin that do not involve her gender. Or you could train your dog to do it for you. On a different note, though, I agree with Ben that there's not much to expect from this guy. But most likely, it'll only involve dramatic music and wild presumptions. No need for misogyny.
I've seen the bulk of Broomfield's movies, and when he hits the ball, it's a fucking moonshot, so everyone should stop bitching about Kurt & Courtney and see the Heidi Fleiss or Aileen Wuournos films, or about a dozen others. The amount of bad or dodgy things he's made, I can count on one hand, and even Kurt & Courtney is incredibly salacious and entertaining. His occasional DP Joan Churchill is one of the most important and talented women in documentary filmmaking, just as an aside.
