A Mighty Libido, Forged in the Heat of Sunday Afternoon Programming

Posted by fishnetsandlight

Like most Kinksters, I have a wide geek streak. I don't know why... but we have a disproportionate amount of Trekkies and D&D players among us. So it's not that surprising that I first discovered my inner perv watching a made-for-TV movie that starred Kevin Sorbo.

The plot was about what you would imagine: Hercules stumbles upon the Amazons. They tie him up, take his shirt off and batter him around a bit. The Queen of the Amazons is hot (Roma Downey) and they have some rough sexy times. (Everyone in Ancient Greece had sex in rooms with lots of sheer linens hanging from the ceiling and fires blazing in an iron bowl, if TV is to be believed.)

At 11 or 12, I thought it was the hottest thing ever.
Shortly thereafter, I figured out what a clitoris was for and Xena: Warrior Princess was introduced to channel 11's lineup. It was years before I could fantasize about anything other than taking ancient Greek soldiers/warlords prisoner, beating them up and then forcing them to be my sex slaves. (OK, so sometimes I also liked to imagine that I was an amazingly beautiful priestess in the temple of Ares, and then he would surprise me.... with his cock. But that was during my Pagan/Wiccan phase, and the late Kevin Smith was pretty hot in his leather outfits.)

It kind of makes you wonder about the creative staff behind that show.

So, what about you guys? Were there any TV show or books that were critical to your sexual development?

'Sfunny, I was just listening to Mistress Matisse on the Savage Lovecast, talking about sort of the same thing. Counseling someone who was looking for a kinky partner in a town without a lot of resources to look to the geeks.

On a personal note, I pretty clearly remember my first hint that I was a masochist (besides all those rape and abduction fantasies as a little girl, but that's just an overabundance of unexpurgated fairy tales). I must have been 12 or 13 and I was reading a super cheezy Star Trek novelization (okay "super cheezy" is a bit redundant in this phrase!). I don't exactly recall the setup, but some evil alien queen is torturing Kirk with a device that she's hooked him up to (hmmmm, as an adult kinkster, I'm thinking it was an intergalactic ErosTek e-stim box). He nobly resists the torture as she turns the dial higher and higher. Finally, she turns it on full power and, "the pain soared to a point where it almost became pleasure." I read that line over and over. It entered my jerkoff fantasies. I didn't even really understand what it meant, but I knew I wanted to find out. It was until 10 years or so later that I started experimenting with bottoming, but that was the first little ray of pervy light. Courtesy of Star Trek.

A conglomeration of fairy tales, I think.

Those and fantasy/sci-fi have a lot of components in common, often.  Struggle between good and evil, feelings of despair, struggle against immensely powerful force for life, etc.  Often capture/imprisonment happens at some point in the story.  Hmm...

Professional Dominatrix, lapsed English major and token black chick extraordinaire. I'm also a great big perv. Bend over.

Location:New York, New York
Looking for: Those who aren't too afraid.

Zeitgeisty

I'm an existentialist trapped in the body of a rational humanist. I've got a penchant for misanthropy and a flair for the obvious. I'm quick with a joke or a light up your smoke, but there's someplace that I'd rather be. I'm Zeitgeisty, pleased to meet me I'm sure.

Location: Somewhere on the isle of Manhattan...
Looking for: A shining good deed in a weary world...

Airheadgenius

I am a fish out of water - an opinionated cheeky smiling English chick in a land of larger than life Americans. I don't understand the culture. I don't understand asking if we're exclusive. I don't understand this weird practice of decapitating penises. Some days I am definitely MILF material. Other days I feel more like the material on the inside of yer grannys' handbag.

Location: Brooklyn
Looking for: A stunning socialist with a propensity to pick winning lottery numbers

amboabe

I'm a smart ass writer who'll argue your ear off, hold your hand close, and tell you the truth whenever. I'm a fool and a hero, a confessional soul, and lover of life in every conceivably absurd way that it can come. I also paint my toenails.

Location: San Francisco
Looking for: A sail, not an anchor.
