We at the Remote Island got a screener for Important Things With Demetri Martin, which premieres on Comedy Central February 11th at 10:30. Don't ask us what we had to do to get this screener, we prefer not to discuss the sordid details. Regardless, we have now viewed the premiere episode, and are happy to report it is very, very clever and very funny. For those of you counting, that's one more clever than funny. Still, those are excellent stats for a sketch comedy show. On each ep, Demetri "Doggie Bounce" Martin tackles a single topic - the premiere is "Timing." He then covers that topic (broadly) in a couple of stand-up segments, with funny drawings, and in sketches. It's quick, smart stuff - sort of a 21st century Mr. Show, but more laid-back and whimsical.

Perhaps the best thing about Demetri Martin having his own Comedy Central show, though, is that it will be that much more difficult for Dane Cook to steal his jokes:
