If you're like us, you thought about buying an AppleTV for like a minute, but then you realized that you couldn't play all the stuff you'd want to -- like streaming videos, or stuff you downloaded off the web in .avi or .divx format -- and so you gave it a pass, even though it's tiny and beautiful and you kind of wanted one anyways. (And if you're really like us, you modded an XBox Classic to do all that stuff anyways and didn't complain about it being the size of a toaster oven.)
Well, dig: someone finally figured out a way to trick the AppleTV into doing all that and more with Boxee, a version of XBMC, the same excellent program that runs on our modded XBox -- now available for use on the AppleTV. With Boxee, you can present video, audio, and images from anywhere on your network or any number of places online. We're talking YouTube, Hulu, Comedy Central -- and apparenly Netflix is next.
You hear that? It's the sound of our poor ol' modded XBox crying in our office, knowing its days are numbered...
