We've had our doubts about this whole TOS prequel reboot thing, but man, does this newest trailer get us excited. Granted, we assume was called "Kirk Begins" in the studio, since it borrows pretty baldly the orchestral swell and the bildungsroman arc of 2005's Batman Begins. But who cares? It works.
Actually, the most promising thing about this to us is how great the dialogue seems to be. In its various forms, Star Trek has always been home to some of the most stilted, lingo-filled speech in the universe. But this is great! How can you not like "FIRE EVERYTHING!!!"? It's grand and chatty, just like the best of J.J. Abrams other work, and if it's all as good as that, it'll make us forget the "dress up" qualities that we were nervous about. Seriously, we're totally sold now.
