How Old Is Too Old For "Hannah Montana"?

Posted by Lindy Parker

Will Miley Cyrus play Hannah Montana forever?  Every time we think it's over, that she can't possibly want to do another season, she says something like this...

"This movie was never meant to be the end of Hannah Montana," she tells April's Billboard magazine. "The thing is, a lot of people put where the show's future lays in my hands — and it's not up to me. It's up to Disney and whether they want more episodes, and we hope that they do." (Us Magazine)

Can we be honest, Miley?  We think you're a liar.  Why would Disney not want another season of the channel's biggest cash cow?  We think it's likely that if they had their way, you'd be playing Hannah well into your thirties.  What would that look like by the way?  Maybe Hannah could grow up and continue her double life: international music sensation by night, Starbucks barista in a green baseball cap by day.  We're just saying, we wouldn't put it past Disney.

In other Miley news, we have a confession to make: For a hot second, we considered buying Miley's autobiography, Miles to Go, just to see if Miley had any life-changing pearls to pass down from her years on televison, but we saw this interview and changed our minds...

We love the way she points out the peace signs in her book (see? it's so nuanced with meaning!).  Also, the little girl who assures us that she can die happy, while clutching Miley's book to her chest.  WTF?

About Lindy Parker

Lindy Parker has worked as a ghostwriter, editor, dance instructor and a purveyor of dreams, one beer at a time. She now writes for hooksexup.com's TV blog, "The Remote Island." She loves Charles Dickens and Gabriel Garcia Marquez and also, straight-to-video releases with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's possible she reads more teen fiction than she should. She hails from Los Angeles, her hometown and soul mate, but she lives in Brooklyn, the fling she'll never forget.

Olivia Purnell left Ohio for sunny Los Angeles; then found that she couldn’t ignore New York City’s call, and brought herself to Brooklyn where she has worked with GenArt, BlackBook, the School of American Ballet, and finished an M.A. in Creative Writing from N.Y.U. She loves one-liners with sting and hates the stench of the subway in the summer. That said, she can’t get enough of either.
