Top 10 Hottest Women Size 10 and Up

Late last year, as men's magazines were coming out with their hottest women on the planet lists, we started to put together a list of hot, normal-sized women. As much as we hate the idea of having to create a separate list for women size 10 and up, we can't imagine the editors of FHM or Maxim drooling over a size 10 or 12. You can call Beyonce curvy all you want, she's probably still only a size 6. Hence the need for this list.

Unfortunately, we got stuck at around seven. We couldn't come up with ten relevant, prominent women who were the size of the average American woman (14) who could turn heads. Frustrated, we gave up on it. But last week, when we heard that Anna Wintour—who, to put it plainly, does not like fat girls—was going to fill the pages of Vogue with pictures of British songstress and former Crush of the Week Adele, we enlisted the help of our girlfriends to complete the list. It turns out most of them were frustrated, too, that they couldn't contribute more than one or two names. "This is sadly hard!!!" wrote one, to which we replied, "Actually, it's infuriatingly hard." But three months and 37 emails later, we have a list of ten amazingly hot women who we assume* wear a size 10 or larger. We know we've left plenty of beautiful women off of this list (and we hope you'll list them in the comments section), but we hope you'll enjoy Scanners Top 10 Hottest Women Size 10 and Up.

10. Keely Shaye Smith
Though she has an acting career of her own, we really only know Kelly Shaye Smith as Pierce Brosnan's wife—and unfortunately only because tabloids made terrible fun of some bikini photos of her. But we give Brosnan two thumbs up for his beautiful buxom bride of eight years.

9. Missy Elliott
We have a hard time imagining Missy Elliot in anything but a trash bag, but once she ditched that getup, she got pretty damn hot. (Okay, she was hot then, but the trash bag really wasn't doing much for her.)

8. Janet Weiss
Is there anything hotter than a chick who plays bass? How about a chick who plays drums? Janet Weiss, former drummer for the now defunct riot grrrl band Sleater-Kinney, now plays with Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks.

7. Sara Ramirez
She was hot as George's wife, Callie Watts on Grey's Anatomy, but now that she's bringing some hot, lesbian action to the show, we imagine Sara Ramirez has earned herself a whole new set of fans (including us!).

6. Adele
Had anyone heard of Adele before she made an appearance on what will forever be referred to as Sarah Palin's Saturday Night Live episode? Lucky for her, and us, everyone was watching. Just a few short months later, she took home a Grammy for Best New Artist.

Isn't it sad that a couple of the women who made your list are so thin that you have to assure us that they are, in fact, a size ten?

I've always been partial to Mia Tyler, especially since she grew up with a famous father, so she must have felt even more pressure than the average woman to be Hollywood thin.

Emme, Kate Dillion, and Mo'Nique are all gorgeous in my opinion. And I think Nikki Blonsky, though not what I'd call "hot," is amazingly cute.

It is kind-of sad, yeah. We were definitely going for "hot." Mia Tyler was originally on the list (she was one of the original seven) but got cut considering we haven't seen or heard much of her in the last five years.

I had to go check to make sure that Neko Case was still singing in the New Pornographers but it's definitely not a 'former front woman' situation, thankfully. I like my indie rock supergroups with a dash of red-headed hotness.

Raven Symone. She is a beautiful girl, and is out there showing young girls that you don't have to be what Hollywood defines as perfect to love yourself and your body. She's taken a lot of crap for her size, but refuses to change to fit someone else's perception of what's pretty.

I may get thrown out for a list that is not contemporary, but our girl Marilyn (during the filming of Some Like it Hot-era Marilyn), and perpetual / eternal flame of hotness Bettie Page were presumably right on the size 10 threshold of fantastic women. Apologies if you see them as 8's - HOT is in your mindset, not in what's printed on your dress tag.

Yeah, I'm calling bullshit on Neko. I saw her last summer, she was (at most) an 8. And that's even a bit of a stretch. She is a rather tall woman with a slightly-broad build, but she is quite slim.

Also, perhaps she isn't necessarily that physically attractive, but Beth Ditto is immensely lovely in her own right.

i don't know much about neko case, but i do know that people have no idea what different sizes actually look like, especially if someone's proportions are less varied. that is to say, they don't have huge hips and small shoulders or vice versa. that picture of neko case doesn't convince me that she's 'definitely an 8', though i could just be confused about what me and my size 12 ass look like.

that all said, i do think we could find a few more women who were clearly larger than a size 10 and have forgone all this 'controversy'.

I'm disappointed to say that although these women are all very beautiful, and am excited to showcase women who are of a 'normal' size, I can't really say that this piece celebrates 'larger' women in any sense. Yes, this is a step in the right direction, but let's start getting over our obsession with curves in the 'correct' places, and overall hourglass figures. Large women are beautiful, plain and simple, and they don't need to fit into a size 10 to fit into that category.
It hurts me to think that size ten is the cutoff for 'curvy' these days. Why include a size at all? Let's look at beautiful women, period.

At the person mentioning Bettie Page and Marilyn Monroe - they were curvier yes, but still only (in today's sizes) about a 6 or 8. The sizing system changes dramatically over the decades.

And I most certainly back everyone in the New Pornographer's lead singer, she's rather slender and in no way a "curvy" woman.

Before I say anything else, the existence of this list is rad. That being said,

BETH DITTO!!!!

I have had an unbelievable crush on this incredible woman for years...I've seen her perform with the Gossip many times and she commands the stage with her hella beautiful, queer southern bell style. And as her weight fluctuates and she gets bigger, my lust for her grows. She is also extra hot because she doesn't try to make herself sexy in skinny ways (as in, there's this idea that only big women who have hourglass figures are still attractive). Beth opens up a whole new vision of what a proud, sexy, big lady is.

Please consider revising the list to include more ladies like Beth and fewer ladies who are so borderline (are they 8s? 10s?) that is just makes me feel like you have to cheat to actually have a list like this.

But still remember that this request doesn't make this list or you who made it any less wonderful.

To give Keely Shaye Smith her due, the post on her should refer not to her acting "career" - which is anemic, looking at here IMDB page (1 season on General Hospital, a couple of TV movies) - but to her TV presenting and environmental activisim career. Her Wikipedia page notes
that she hosted Unsolved Mysteries, worked as an environmental correspondent for ABC, and has received lots of honors for her environmental activism.

I would add Margaret Cho- I'm not sure what size she is now, but she talks a lot about the ridiculous expectations of Hollywood and television and how that actually damaged her body when she tried to make herself acceptable to them. Now she loves herself, doesn't take crap and is smokin'

I agree with radical feminists who paint speech bubbles that say "Help me...I'm starving" on billboards of ridiculously thin women advertising stuff. I'd like to see some BBW-type women in the photo essays in hooksexup.com. That would suit my tastes just fine, and be "reality therapy" for all concerned.

Size 10 and up? Give me a break. If you want to celebrate beautiful large women, you can't start at size 10. Most people who wear a 10 are pretty damn slim, though they're probably medium to medium tall in height. Maybe there are some really short people who wear a 10 because they're wide for their size, but that's about it.

The last time I could get into a 10 I was 13 years old. And I whipped right through 10s to 12s in short order, not because I was fat (I was classic pre-teen skinny), but because I was shooting up in height and had broad shoulders and a large bone structure. Medium to tall women who wear 10s don't come anywhere close to large by any definition. In fact, really tall women who wear a 10 are likely painfully skinny.

Anyway, there are plenty of beautiful large women you've missed. How about basketball players -- say Courtney Paris of Oklahoma? Not to mention -- since you're hepped on actresses -- Camryn Manheim.

A few thoughts:

Sara Rue lost A LOT of weight and is definitely not anywhere near a 10 anymore. Nominating her is stupid, as she probably lost the weight in a really unhealthy fashion.

Following that, remember The women from third rock from the sun? She was smokin' and probably bigger than a size 10 when she appeared on Sex and the City. Then she gave into Hollywood pressure and now looks anorexic. So sad.

Finally, to all those who wrote really rude comments about the women listed, I bet most people would say the same about you, based on your comments.

And why stop at 10 ladies? Doesn't Maxim or something publish the top 100 pretty girls every year? Let's get more of these sexy senoritas.
