*This blog is PG-13 so I had to blur some of the nakedness in the above photo. But if you go to the piece you’ll see these people, and others, in their naked glory.
Today I found an interesting article in the archives about flashers, who are people who take their clothes off in public places. At the beginning of the piece I thought “how quaint,” this writer thought that it was unusual to find a community of flashers on the internet. Since this piece was written in 1998, only a few years after Al Gore (congrats!) invented the internet, I thought maybe the author wasn’t so familiar with the numerous groups of naked people on the internet.
But it turns out the flashers are different. They are regular people who get off on being naked in unexpected places and they have a code that includes not flashing schoolchildren from inside tan trench coats. The author points out that before the interweb flashers were alone and probably thought they were weird pervs, but now they have a place where they can post pictures and virtually slap each others asses and say “you go girl!” They gain power and confidence by flashing. Reading it might make you want to get naked in public, too. Or maybe you already do?
