So last night, we're watching A&E, like we sometimes do, and we stumble across Jacked: Auto Theft Task Force. Did you know a car is stolen every 26 seconds in the United States? Because we didn't. If Gone in 60 Seconds and COPS and the Demolition Derby had a strange, ménage-a-trois lovechild, it would be Jacked. It's basically a bunch of cops from New Jersey chasing down car theives and making the world safe for Cadillacs everywhere.
The best part is the ATTF has all this impossibly elaborate technology to aid in their in endeavors -- high-speed license plate scanners, lojack tracking, a HEAT-SEEKING HELICOPTER -- you know, the usual. But, despite this arsenal of the baddest ass technology out there, a large part of the ATTF strategy seems to be cornering the perpetrators, and ramming the stolen cars with their steel-bumpered SUV's. Hey, sometimes the most effective courses of action are those that have stood the test of time.
