It's common courtesy to introduce oneself before barging in and quacking about current events, but in my excitement for Mega Man 9, I failed to say hello before I made my first post to 61 Frames Per Second. So I'll do it now.
Hi! My name's Nadia Oxford. I live in Toronto, Canada. On my way to eternal retail slavery, I tripped and became a freelance writer. A great deal of my writing is games-focused. I write for 1UP, What They Play, Next Generation, Playstation: The Official Magazine and Gamepro. I also write about manga and anime for Mania and select funny videos for The Daily Tube. Once in a while I show up in pet magazines as both a contributor and Example #1 on the AKC's list of Bad Breeding.
Someday I will be able to tell my children that I got into gaming when my parents bought a ColecoVision from some scummy dude hawking things outside of a Maple Leafs Game. It was all uphill from there--or downhill, depending on your opinion on the state of the industry.
In the interest of alienating myself, I'll list some of my favourite games: Most things Mario, most things Zelda, most things Mega Man, and most things Castlevania, Metroid and DragonQuest. Individual triumphs include Bioshock, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy VI, The World Ends With You, Guitar Hero II and a mess of others. I'm a recent Earthbound convert and I am prepared to make offerings to Giygas if that is what's required of me.
I'm very happy to be blogging for 61 Frames Per Second, and I hope I don't bore you all to death. Let's be friends!
