I’ve said it before, and now I’m saying it again: Nerds have taken over Capcom. Their fandom, their sheer devotion to self-reference (and reverence) is staggering. Take a look at the Mega Man 9 “box art” t-shirts that the development team have made for themselves.
It’s not enough that they’re making a full on 8-bit sequel for the Blue Bomber. They have actually gone ahead and celebrated the gargantuanly bizarre box art the series was famous for twenty years ago. Pretty swell that they didn’t go with the notorious American art for Mega Man 1 as their inspiration. This definitely speaks to PAL Mega Man 2!
As the inestimable Jeremy Parish said, it’s amazing.
Editor’s Note: Think we write about Mega Man 9 too much? You ain’t seen nothing yet.
