About a week and a half ago, I woke up in the morning and recalled a beautiful vision. I dreamt that I journeyed to Chinatown, toward the end of Mott Street, to a spot across the way from the world renowned eatery known as Wo Hop. I entered the arcade and walked to the back. Street Fighter IV was there. The cabinet was new as the spring, its joystick forgiving yet precise, all six buttons responding to new and old commands as though they interpreted thought instead of gesture. Its HD display glowed with the promise of a new future full of surprises, triumphs, and bittersweet defeats. It was beautiful. Surely, this midnight journey was prophecy. The Chinatown arcade must have received an imported Street Fighter IV cabinet! Later that Thursday, I walked to the arcade, sweating from the anticipation as much as the late July heat. As I passed through the dirty glass doors into the arcade’s dim interior, I found that they had indeed received a new Japanese cabinet in the time since my last visit.
It was Arcana Heart 2. Mother. Fucking. Arcana. Heart. Two. This, as you can imagine, made me slightly bitter. But not as bitter as I am today after reading this rumor from Insert Credit. Word on the street is that Street Fighter IV arcade cabinets are coming to our backward continent. Four of them. Yeah, that’s right. Four cabinets. They will charge one dollar per play.
Stupid America… land of the free my ass…
Anyways, nothing’s confirmed just yet. Patience is the virtue of the hour. If and when Street Fighter IV gets released in American arcades, 61 Frames Per Second will rush to let you know. Additionally, if I ever tell you that I have prophetic powers, please note that I am lying and promptly kick me in the gonads.
Our thanks to GameLife for directing us to this tragic bit of hearsay.
