The new season of America's Got Talent premiered last night, bringing with it the usual parade of freaks, sob stories, mildly talented actual performers, and scantily dressed women (and one male Britney Spears impersonator) brought in just to raise David Hasselhoff's blood pressure.
But the evening really belonged to tiny singer Kaitlyn Maher, who "just turned four." Whatever you may think of sending such a young child on stage (and it looked as if she's developing an applause addiction that could cause her to become an actual Britney Spears), there's no denying that the adorable little munchkin was fantastic. As she quietly warbled a Disney tune in near-perfect pitch, you could practically hear biological clocks going off throughout the audience.
And to top it all off, she uttered what might be the best Red State line of this election year: When asked if she's from New York, she replied, "Uh, I'm from America." If John McCain doesn't steal that, he's crazy.
Watch the video to see how a hackneyed talent show with two British judges can make us all proud to be Americans.
